Project Overview

Power Plant Facility Construction

Coffeyville Power Generation Facility No.2 construction officially began October 12th, 2015. The construction of the new $58M plant was completed and operable by January 1, 2017.

The power purchase and sale agreement with the Grand River Dam Authority led to an agreement to purchase and install 3 – 18.7 MW Wärtsilä generating units. Burns & McDonnell was the engineering and construction management firm for the project and due the stringent completion dates and safety requirements on this project, UCI was contracted to complete the civil and foundations construction. UCI had the ability to meet their extensive safety requirements (Experience Multiplier Rates, Recordable Incident Rates, OSHA 300 Requirements, and OSHA 10 Hour Certification for all employees and subcontractors onsite) as a barrier to entry on this and all of our projects. UCI also met extensive performance requirements based on their Predictable Performance® production management system and the ability to meet production targets. On this project, UCI completed the major generator slab (1100 CY of concrete) within tolerance before the target completion date.
