Project Overview

Landfill Site Grading

This project consisted of the building of a new flue gas desulfurization (FGD) landfill and leachate pond. The project included the initial mass grading along with the mucking out and filling of an existing pond. The landfill and pond both had liners consisting of a lower layer of geosynthetic clay, a middle layer of a non-woven geotextile fabric, and an upper layer of a 60-mil HDPE geomembrane. In the landfill we then placed a 3’ thick protective layer over the liner materials. We also laid a HDPE perforated pipe underdrain system to take contaminated water off the landfill to the leachate pond.
